The kites carries unique traditional Balinese essence, with it’s giant shapes and sizes. It is believed that before taking the kite to the air, a ritual ceremony to take place to ensure the kite can freely fly high in the sky. Some of the kites that you will be able to see are the “Janggan, Sanur Bebean, Pecukan and kites of modern creation. Something unique in this year event will be the night kites, which is a kite contest at night equipped with fireworks. The Sanur Kite Festival 2008 will not only presents the abilities of the kites in the air, but will also exhibits these kites along Sanur Beach with cultural activities combining art, music and sports to increase the festivals overall excitement.
