WORDS FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF SANUR VILLAGE FESTIVAL 2010

Following our four consecutive successful celebrations, we are proud to announce the return of Sanur Village Festival set for August 4-8, 2010 taking place at Segara Ayu beach and Inna Grand Bali Beach Sanur.

“Saha Nuhur” is preferred for this year’s theme of the festival that literally means “the passion to visit a holy place” and later become the name of “Sanur”. With its popularity we believe that Sanur Village Festival will attract more visitors to the island of Bali this year and more importantly to map this event in the world of tourism calendar.

“We always excited to have this festival underway and make it one of the brand marks Sanur has from tourist point of view. And I personally very happy with the enthusiasm of all committee members in making this activity bigger and better every year.

Saha Nuhur as the theme for Sanur Village Festival 2010

The other powerful and interesting way to express the meaning of Saha Nuhur is: The one and only holy light: attractive, seductive, animating. This fits well with Sanur’s reputation for producing powerful sorcerers and priests, and renownednative artists and dancers. Perhaps this is why many foreign vagabonds cease their wanderings in Sanur, and why prominent western anthropologists, artists, and writers have made Sanur their home. It also helps explain why event today, despite the elephantine encroachment of herd tourism, Sanur retains a traditional village feel, close to the pulse of nature and to the heartbeat of the unseen realm of spirits and gods
